PRESS RELEASE 6TH IMELCO CONVENTION IN ROME

On November 13th and 14th 2008, the 6th IMELCO Convention took place in Rome.
This time, the conference set up even on a larger scale than its predecessor – the Convention in 2005 in Brussels – reconfirmed the success of this style of exhibition. On both days, the visitors representing the electrical wholesale as well as manufacturers of electrical material took the opportunity to meet at eleven individual stands of IMELCO members as well as to lead constructive discussions in more than 100 preliminarily scheduled meetings.

More than 240 attendees, 160 whereof owners or representatives of the IMELCO wholesale businesses from 17 different European countries, 80 representatives of manufacturers, press and further guests had accepted the invitation of the IMELCO Management to come to Rome.
Besides the opening speech of the IMELCO Chairman, Mr. Simon Barkes, as well as the welcome of the IMELCO Managing Director and the convention presenter, Mr. Oliver Schreckling, the presentations performed by Managing Directors of IMELCO member co-operations were the culmination of the Convention.

In the evening of November 13th, the exciting get-together evening took place in the ancient Villa Miani on one of the seven hills of Rome.
After the entertainment offered by caricaturists during the reception, the dinner enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere set in front of the unforgettable scenery of the legendary film “La dolce vita” and just on time for the dessert, the first tones of the group “Big Night Jive” announced the beginning of the casino evening, during which the guests had the opportunity to tempt their fate at several casino tables playing roulette, blackjack etc.

In the late evening, after the casino was closed, the winner of the three-day-stay for two persons at the five star Hotel Sheraton Salobre Golf Resort & Spar, Gran Canaria, was determined. Mr. Venancio Vega Rodriguez, Sales Manager of the wholesale business LUJISA, member of ELECTROCLUB, was glad to share with his wife his happiness to have won this journey.

The point in time for the continuation was fixed just a few days after the 6th Convention: the next Convention will take place in 2010.
